The aim of our study is the acquisition of neutron cross-section data for the minor actinides (such as $^{237}$ Np, $^{241}$ Am and $^{243}$ Am). We develop a new advanced measurement technology for the acquirement of neutron cross-section data of the minor actinides. In this technology, we construct a 4 Ge-spectrometer which consists of 30 Ge crystals and BGO anti-Compton shields. Normally, a data acquisition system for such a big Ge spectrometer consists of many NIM modules; it requires large space; in addition, its cost of this system becomes huge. To overcome these problem, we developed a new data acquisition system for the 4 Ge-spectrometer with digital signal processing (DSP) techniques. This system consists of three Main ADC modules, which measure the energy of gamma rays with DSP technique, five Fast Timing modules and a Coincidence module to detect a coincidence condition and to measure timing data. All modules can be mounted a 19 inches VME sub-rack, the cost of this system is less than 2000 dollars per one Ge detector channel.

The CAMAC hardware based timing system has been used to synchronizing pulse discharge sequential events and data collection of the interesting plasma phenomenon of the JT-60 plasma experiments. However, more flexible and intelligent timing system features with more state-of-the-art system is required corresponding to the increase of the requirement to realize more advanced plasma control and to minimize system maintenance cost. The combinations of the VME-bus system with high-speed data communication network by the reflective memory module and user-friendly application software based on MATLAB tools was selected for the new timing system. The new timing system provides the 50sec master clock, various timing signal preparation logic, which is built into DSP module conjunction with discharge sequence event. Except clock pulse generator (CPG) module, no other special hardware-timing module is necessary for the new timing system.

Synchrotron X-ray reflectivity and grazing incidence diffraction were applied to study the structures of phospholipid Langmuir-Blodgett films under controlled humidity. DSPE and DSPE-PEO lipopolymers, in which a PEO chain with n= 8, 17, or 45 EO units is covalently linked to the polar headgroup of DSPE, were used. When the relative humidity was changed from below 2 to 97%, the phosphate headgroup in a DSPE film was hydrated with a concomitant thickness increase of 0.42 nm. The swelling of the monolayer was found to be a reversible process without any significant roughening of the film. Subtle differences in the film thickness could be detected for DSPE monolayers transferred under various lateral pressures. The degree of lateral ordering of the alkyl chains in DSPE monolayers increased considerably when the humidity was raised. In the case of DSPE-PEO with eight EO units, the hydration of the monolayer was also found to be reversible, but the water uptake was larger due to the presence of the hydrophilic polymer interlayer.
